Mill Valley, CA: Boundary Solutions, Inc. (BSI) is pleased to announce that the National ParcelMap Data Portal now contains over 15 million parcels from 90 counties and other taxing jurisdictions. All content in this inventory is available online, normalized to a single spatial data protocol and ready for immediate use upon download.

Developed in response to BSI client needs, this inventory is a major first step in establishing a complete national parcel boundary GIS location platform of over 40 million parcels across 250 jurisdictions. Possible new developments in federal programs could make completion of the NPDP a realization by the end of the year. NPDP subscribers to date include:

  • National flood hazard certification companies to improve operational accuracy and throughput.
  • Natural/manmade hazard disclosure service companies to improve accuracy & throughput.
  • Engineering firm to establish a major state-wide infrastructure data model.
  • An R&D company in support of a 5-city hazard management practice study for FEMA.
  • An insurance information service company to establish a major metropolitan area pilot project.
  • A real estate information company to add parcel boundaries to its online service offerings.

BSI identified an additional 20 million parcels sponsored by jurisdictions that either do not yet have a data sharing policy or have a per/parcel acquisition cost that makes its inclusion in a national database impossible. BSI works continuously with these jurisdictions to establish data sharing policies to make their content feasible for inclusion in Boundary Solution Inc.’s NPDP.

###

Boundary Solutions Inc. assembled the most extensive database of parcel map data available from jurisdictions throughout the United States. Terms and conditions for its acquisition, use and updates are in place for over 85% of the nation’s major metros, almost 40 million parcels. All content is normalized, regardless of source format, to a single national spatial configuration so that an application that works in Seattle also works in St. Pete. BSI has filed with the U.S. Office of Trademarks and Patents a provisional patent application that includes the establishment of an online national parcel map data server that enables its users to operate parcel GIS data models as well as an Application Programming Interface that helps simplify using the data and creating applications.
