PRESS RELEASE PG&E Selects Cadastra to Assist with GIS-Based Pipeline Inspection Assessment
Richmond, VA, May 24, 2004. Cadastra, Inc., a leading provider of parcel data conversion, maintenance and integration services, announced the award of a data services contract by Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) to provide and maintain a seamless database of over five million parcels covering the PG&E service area that will assist the company in its effort to ensure the integrity of its gas transmission pipelines. The project will allow PG&E to efficiently and accurately comply with the new Department of Transportation code requirements to manage the pipeline in high consequence areas. Cadastra teamed with industry leaders, including Boundary Solutions, Inc. (BSI) and GIS Consultants, to provide a comprehensive data solution that includes orthophotography, tax assessment data, land use information and a seamless parcel geodatabase tailored to PG&Es analysis needs.
Our primary project goal is to effectively identify all high consequence areas around our pipelines. Cadastra is helping us achieve this goal by providing information that allows us to perform detailed and accurate analyses in a very cost effective manner, said Chris Warner, PG&E project lead. We selected Cadastra not only for their demonstrated ability to deliver the necessary data, but also for their capacity to provide value-added services such as cross-jurisdiction land use reconciliation and seamless countywide datasets.
Im proud of our role in assisting PG&E in high consequence area identification, and have been very pleased with the tremendous efforts of our project team, said Brad Llewellyn, President of Cadastra. BSIs experience in working with local data sponsors has enabled them to quickly fulfill the delivery of parcel data and data release agreements, while GIS Consultants has provided invaluable assistance with data analysis and organization.
