BSI DEVELOPS AN OVERNIGHT SPATIAL MODEL FOR DOWNTOWN OKLAHOMA CITYPress Release Mill Valley, CA:In response to a request by ABS Consulting of San Antonio TX, in a matter of days, BSI assembled a spatial model of downtown Oklahoma City to support a terrorism risk assessment program. Three data elements were required:
Upon receiving ABS order–to–proceed, BSI tapped its extensive National ParcelMap Data Portal (NPDP) resources to expedite assembly all these elements. The tax rolls were joined to the digital parcel map, adding a wide array of attributes to each boundary. The parcel boundaries were then spatially intersected with the building footprint overlay. The result was an intelligent building overlay with each footprint assigned all tax record attributes pertaining to the parcel in which it is located. BSI delivered the result to ABS on the fourth day. An attribute of particular interest was Number–of–Stories. This value enabled ABS to project each building footprint along its Z–axis according to a calculated height. This 3D model completed a terrorism risk assessment model able to meet the needs of their client. Using the projected polygons to simulate solid buildings, the terror assessment model accurately accounted for the exposure of each building to possible blast damage caused by a terrorist attack. This assessment process was successfully completed in short order based on ABS industry leading risk management experience.

Boundary Solutions Inc. assembled the most extensive database of parcel map data available from jurisdictions throughout the United States. Terms and conditions for its acquisition, use and updates are in place for 85% of the nations major metros; 65 million parcels. All content is normalized, regardless of source format, to a single national spatial configuration so that an application that works in Seattle also works in St. Pete. In September 2003, the US Patent Office published BSIs U.S. Patent Application #20030140064 for a National Online ParcelMap Data Portal (NPDP). This patent includes the establishment of an online national parcel map data server that enables its users to operate parcel GIS data models as well as an application programming interface that helps simplify using the data and creating applications.
