GISC-EYE Newsletter Editor Finds BSI’s Open Records IAAO Article to be
“Dead-on and Based on Research”

Mill Valley, CA: In the Summer issue of the GIS Certification Institute newsletter, GISC-EYE, in a Letter from the Editor, Glenn Grisdale states, “In Fair and Equitable, a magazine of the International Association of Assessing Officers, Dennis Klein, AICP, PE, and president of Boundary Solutions, Inc., wrote an article in March’s edition entitled “Broad Use of Digital Parcel Maps and Property Tax Base Growth”  that touched upon this issue [open records]. The direction of the piece was not only dead-on and backed with research, but will be touched upon in the Fall issue.” A collaboration between GISC, BSI and others to further explore the direct financial benefits of transparency is underway.

BSI is the custodian of the National Parcel Map Data Portal (NPDP™). As of July 2009, a total of 76 million parcel boundary polygons from 680 jurisdictions are normalized and ready for download. The original provisional patent application was filed January 18, 2002.
